Jo Walter, Director, has over 25 years of experience in education and youth activities.  During the school year, she runs Little Sprouts Preschool, and she is a professional storyteller.  Farmer Nikki Johanson regularly opens Pheasant Fields Farm to school groups, scout troops, home-schooled students, and holds special events for children throughout the year.  Gabe Malcolm and Amanda Huston will be returning as senior and junior counselors, and applications are now open for the CIT (counselor in training) program. Farm staff are also on site, always busy but always willing to answer campers' questions.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Program

Students age 12-16 are encouraged to apply for a Counselor in Training position. You may attend for one or more weeks, but must be able to participate for every day of the week you attend. Campers are split into 3 small groups, and each group of 4-6 kids has a counselor or CIT as group leader, participating in all camp activities. You are the role models for the younger campers. You help make camp a great experience for the elementary kids you will be working with!

Good personal qualities for this job are patience, kindness, fun loving spirit, creativity, and energy. A willingness to try new things is also helpful!

CIT's develop their skills in leadership, support, communication, cooperation and teaching. You will also be having fun, in the outdoors, learning about healthy food, sustainability, stewardship and responsibility.

Apply with a brief letter, just a couple of paragraphs, describing why you would like to be a CIT, and any experience you have working with younger kids. Let us know which week or weeks you are available. We will contact you and arrange for an interview. Before applying, please look over the KitsapFarmCamp.org website to become as familiar as possible with the camp. Reading the website will give you a good idea of the kinds of activities you will be doing. Send your letter to littlesproutsps@comcast.net. Call or text me at 360 551 6944 with questions.

Registration fee for the CIT program is $50, $25 for young people who have previously attended Farm Camp. Registration fee is payable after you have been invited to work as a CIT.
